SALARY: Class 36: Min. $74,481 – Max. $96,826

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Reporting to the Coordinator, Administration & Logistics for Wiichihiituwin Montreal Espresso and Chisasibi, the incumbent ensures proper management and efficiency of the evening operations of Wiichihiituwin Montreal (Espresso) service point.

The incumbent also supports the Coordinator and the Assistant Director in the planning, organization, delivery and control of all service coordination and support activities for patients, social clients, and caregivers who have to travel outside of Eeyou Istchee to receive health or social services.

The Head of Administrative Unit also provides these services to all health patients, social and Youth Protection clients referred, or in transit, from other Services of the organization.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures that services are provided within the mission, philosophy, goals and prescribed programs of the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay and Miyupimaatisiiun, according to an interdisciplinary and community-based approach.
  • Contributes to the efficient use of resources.
  • Contributes to the implementation, supervision and control of the policies, norms and standards of the professional practice of the various sectors in the Wiichihiituwin Montreal (Espresso) point of operations.
  • Participates in the coordination, implementation and control of:
    • Patient/client travel planning, transportation, and interpretation;
    • Cleaning services, transport, maintenance and security and that a safe and hygienic environment is maintained for the users and staff.
  • Contributes to the continuity and complementarity of the services dispensed by the Montreal (Espresso) point of operations with those offered by the other Services of the organization and other resources within or outside of the region.
  • Participates in the implementation of mechanisms to enable the Montreal (Espresso) point of operation to respond to any logistics emergency during the night, day, evening, weekend and statutory holidays.
  • Ensures that the users’ individuality and privacy are respected.
  • Ensures that the users’ family and other significant persons are integrated, should the case arise, into the process attached to the Service’s care practice.
  • Ensures that the confidential data regarding the users are respected.
  • Contributes to the implementation of the CNIHB’s policies and programs.
  • Collaborates in the efficient people management of the Unit by:
    • Demonstrating and promoting on-going, effective and open communication with employees, including keeping staff members informed of decisions that impact them and/or their Unit;
    • Collaborating with the immediate supervisor to ensure sufficient staffing levels at all times in order to effectively execute operations;
    • Participate in the supervision of employees and overall management of the Unit during the evening, including:
      • Assisting the Coordinator in the welcoming and onboarding of new employees;
      • Contributing to the mobilization of the employees towards the achievement of the Unit’s objectives;
      • Identifying training needs, proposing solutions, and supporting training and development for the members of the Unit;
      • Communicating through individual and Unit team meeting
      • Assisting the Coordinator in monitoring and ensuring that individual performance is aligned with the overall objectives of the Unit and the Direction
      • Supporting the implementation of organizational activities promoting the physical, mental and social health of employees in the Unit;
  • Ensures the financial management of the Unit by collaborating in the management of the budget for the Unit.
  • Ensures compliance and respect of the laws, regulations, ethics, norms policies and procedures for the Direction.
  • Participates in the implementation of a Quality Assurance Program relevant to the activities of the Unit.
  • Contributes to an annual formative evaluation of the Unit’s projects implementation and the formulation of lessons learned, with the various stakeholders.
  • Participates in completing Gesrisk forms for the unit.
  • Supports day shift team when Coordinator is absent at the request of the Assistant Director.
  • Carries out any other function at the request of the immediate supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, management or social sciences;
  • Two (2) years in a management position at a health care facility or in a similar supervisory management position;
  • Relevant change management experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of MSSS services, relevant legislation and regulations, the network and orientations of hospital and medical services, CMCs, CHSSCs (CSSSs);
  • Knowledge in the following areas: support and care systems for in-transit patients; liaison between the professionals who manage patients and providers of secondary or tertiary care; transportation and accommodations logistics systems; management of patient accommodation;
  • Knowledge of the background and issues pertinent to health services for First Nations and Cree culture;
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to respond to changing priorities;
  • Organizational skills, autonomy and ability to work with little supervision;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Results-oriented, self-directed, flexible and able to handle multiple tasks at once;
  • Focused on a proactive customer approach;
  • Strong aptitude for inspirational leadership and self-management;
  • Knowledge of section 14 of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, an asset.

LANGUAGE

  • Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

OTHER

  • Includes on-call periods;
  • Willing to travel.
