Exploring Innovative Initiatives

This program aims to boost the capacity of Eeyou Istchee organizations in innovative labor market initiatives through research and development funding.

A changing labour market calls for new and bold strategies. Innovative research and the development of new tools and approaches are the best methods to build capacity in Eeyou Istchee.


ASD is looking to support new projects through its Research and Development program.

ELIGIBLE

Activities

Eligible Activities include Research and Development projects to:

  • Initiate strategic partnerships
  • Analyze labour market trends and needs
  • Promote employment
  • Create innovative skills training programs

 

and more. A wide variety of activities will be considered.

FOR

APPLICANTS

The Research and Development program is designed to improve the functioning and development of the Cree Labour Market. This will lead to increased skill levels and employment outcomes for clients, and reduce labour shortage for employers.

ASD will fund a wide range of activities through the implementation of this program, for a maximum period of 52 weeks.

If you have a project that can help to strengthen the labour market of Eeyou Istchee, or further develop the skills and capacity of Cree workers, we want to hear from you.

EligibilityCriteria

Eligible Activities

Research and development activities to: 

  • Initiate strategic partnerships and consolidate networks; 

  • Identify workforce needs and analyze labour market trends; 

  • Promote employment and develop labour market information tools; 

  • Address barriers to employment by designing wrap around career development and counselling services; 

  • Create innovative skills training programs to increase client employability and foster labour market integration. 

Expected Results
  • Improved functioning and development of the Cree labour market leading to increased skills levels and employment outcomes for Cree clients and reduced labour shortage for employers. 

  • The applicant must present a report on the funded activities. 

Eligible ApplicantsAll organizations presenting a project that benefits the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee.
DurationFor a maximum of 52 weeks
Eligible Expenses
  • Professional fees, maximum $1000 per day 

  • Research and development expenses 

  • Travel and accommodation expenses 

  • Administration costs must not exceed 15% of the sub-total of the project’s expenditures before administration costs. 

Non-Eligible Expenses
  • Capital costs for the construction or purchase of a building 

  • Expenses which would have otherwise been incurred by the Applicant 

  • Capital expenses, such as computers and equipment, not related to the project 

  • Expenses incurred before the application is submitted
