Individuals requiring extra support to find and maintain employment can take advantage of the Persons with Disabilities program to remove barriers and create opportunities, because everyone has the right to work!

FOR APPLICANTS

Organizations & Employers

ASD wants to help Eeyou Istchee organizations and employers by funding activities that support persons with disabilities in overcoming barriers to participation in the labour market.

 

These activities include:

  • Participant wages and mandatory employment costs (MERCs)
  • Accommodation costs, such as building accessibility and specialized equipment
  • Training costs, and more.


The Persons with Disabilities program is designed to remove the obstacles that stand in the way of sustainable and meaningful employment.

Through this program, ASD will help employers to take the necessary steps to ensure that you have an accessible workplace and receive the training and support that you need to maximize your potential.

EligibilityCriteria

Eligible Activities

Activities that support: 

  • Persons with disabilities in overcoming barriers to participation in the Eeyou Istchee labour market 

  • Employers to hire persons with disabilities 

Expected Results Help persons with disabilities increase their economic participation and independence by preparing for, finding, and keeping rewarding jobs. youth.
Eligible Participants

Participants that are: 

  • At least 18 years of age or hold a Secondary School Diploma 

  • Unemployed 

Duration
  • For persons with disabilities, the number of hours worked per week depends on their health condition. 

  • Must be completed by March 31 of the fiscal year in which funding is received 

Eligible Expenses
  • A maximum annual contribution of $35,000 per participant 

  • Participant wages and mandatory employment related costs must be within maximum of $35,000 per year. 

  • Accommodation costs such as building alterations and specialized equipment to support the participation of persons with disabilities 

  • Travel expenses in accordance with CNG’s Business Travel Policy 

  • Tuition, training plan development and coaching expenses at a maximum of $1000 per day. 

  • Administration costs must not exceed 15% of the sub-total of the project’s expenditure before administration costs 

Non-Eligible Expenses
  • Capital costs for the construction or purchase of a building 

  • Expenses which would have otherwise been incurred by the Applicant 

  • Capital expenses, such as computers and equipment, not related to the project 

  • Expenses incurred before the application is submitted
