Location: Eeyou Istchee and the James Bay Region, and Ottawa-Gatineau area

Eeyou Mobility Inc. (EMI) provides high quality and affordable cellular service throughout all 14 communities in the Eeyou Istchee and James Bay region of Québec, and we are deploying an extensive network along major highways and key access roads in the region.

EMI was formed in 2019 by James Bay Eeyou Corporation, Eeyou Communications Network and SSi Canada. By leveraging the experience, assets, and advantages of our founding partners, EMI offers advanced mobile wireless broadband services that are affordable, attractive, and technology-equivalent to those offered in Canada’s urban markets.

What will you do?

The Events and Intern Program Manager will recruit and manage a team of Cree Interns and plan and execute marketing events.

In this role you will be working closely with the EMI Board, Cree partners, Jamesian partners, communities, and regional organizations in order to deliver the intern program. The intern program offers Cree candidates  the opportunity to acquire professional paid experience in different departments of our organization.

You will also be responsible for building and executing face-to-face marketing campaigns in Eeyou Istchee James Bay.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop relationships with local Cree and Jamesien communities in Eeyou Istchee James Bay;
  • Budget, plan, attend and oversee an effective intern program and EMI events and marketing campaigns;
  • Promote the intern program throughout Eeyou Istchee James Bay;
  • Plan, develop and implement a recruitment strategy to attract Cree candidates for the intern program;
  • Recruit interns and work closely with them, being a mentor and support for them throughout the program;
  • Develop in collaboration with EMI the course schedule and well-defined and documented criteria and performance indicators for the intern program, including:
    • Intern professional development opportunities;
    • Diversity and inclusion initiatives;
    • EMI outreach and brand awareness; and
    • building a talent pipeline for EMI;
  • Track metrics of the intern program, such as recruitment rates, retention rates, conversion rates to full-time hires and performance evaluations;
  • Create content to build EMI brand awareness and attract attention;
  • Participate and manage outreach activities, events, presentations, and meetings with Cree communities to promote the benefits and value of EMI services and products;
  • Measure and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the intern program and EMI marketing.

What you should have:

  • Diploma in marketing or related field of study or relevant work experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Cree;
  • Reasonable French language skills;
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, history, and traditions;
  • Knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube;
  • Experience with advertising and marketing capabilities, such as event planning and direct marketing and content creation;
  • Ability to work effectively, closely, and collaboratively with other departments within an organization, such as sales and customer service;
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and to work in a dynamically driven environment;
  • Passion for the development of Cree youth and communities, and to help support local businesses and government services, remote health care and education;
  • Driver’s licence;
  • Availability to travel regularly throughout Eeyou Istchee James Bay and Ottawa-Gatineau regions.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience recruiting and selecting Cree employees and interns;
  • Experience managing or supervising individuals or teams;
  • Experience managing an intern program;
  • Experience hauling a trailer (for promotional events).

Location

This position will involve training programs in the Ottawa and Chibougamau offices of SSi and ECN, as well as well as work and travel throughout Eeyou Istchee and the James Bay region.
