HOURLY SALARY: Min. (1) $24.78 – Max. (18) $35.67
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who works directly with service users to ensure their education and rehabilitation in an institutional or external setting, in accordance with the intervention programs established in collaboration with the existing team of professionals, to foster the rehabilitation of individuals and/or their reintegration into society.
She/he applies education techniques involving activities of daily living in organizing, coordinating and conducting programmed activities aimed at helping these individuals learn and acquire appropriate attitudes and behaviors.
She/he observes and analyses the behavior of the service users, participates in assessing their needs and abilities and records their progress by writing up the appropriate reports. She/he is responsible for programming her/his own activities.
SPECIFIC FUNCTION
Working with clients who may be physically and/or intellectually disabled.
Assisting clients in achieving success according to a care plan which will be developed in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Diploma of college studies with specialization in special care counselling or institutional rehabilitation from a school recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport;
- This class also includes those who, after acquiring relevant experience, have obtained a certificate of college studies in special care counselling or institutional rehabilitation
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of pertinent experience;
- Experience working with students in special education programs;
- Experience working with individuals, families and community organizations
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and experience with autism and behavioural techniques;
- Knowledge of appropriate ways to handle intervention with challenging behavior;
- Ability in the identification and analysis of the clientele needs;
- Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge, as applied to coaching and training;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Autonomous, discrete and empathetic;
- Teamwork capabilities.
LANGUAGE
- Fluent in Cree and English;
- Fluency in French is an asset.
