SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Director General, the Associate Secretary General is responsible for serving as an advisory officer to the Director General and acts as their delegate in all matters which they may entrusted to him or her.
This position will handle internal legal matters and any specialized legal consultations.
As a as member of the CSB Senior Management, this position is responsible for CSB’s general management and governance and assists in the recording of meetings held by the CSB and Senior Management
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist with overseeing the work that requires legal interpretation within the Board, with the exception of labour law matters.
- Assist with matters that will help the CSB manage the yearly budget
- Serve as the advisory officer to the Director General and works as their delegate in all matters entrusted to him or her.
- Coordinate and evaluate the performance of personnel under his or her authority.
- Complete tasks and produce deliverables that are aligned with the standards and expectations of the department of the Director General.
- Ensure that CSB standards are applied across all relevant projects and initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective communications and relations with relevant stakeholders across the CSB.
- Support other related duties, as assigned by the Director General.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification
- Undergraduate degree in law or a relevant field
Experience
- 6 years of relevant experience
- Being member of the Bar association would be an asset
Language
- Fluency in English or Cree
- French would be an asset
- Bilingualism is an asset
