Job Description

JOB OPPORTUNITIES AT SHAAKICHIUWAANAN CAMP

Domco, a trusted leader in remote site services and camp management, is currently seeking motivated individuals from Chisasibi to join our team at the Shaakichiuwaanan Camp located in James Bay at KM270 Transtaïga Road.

Available Positions:

1. Janitor: As a Janitor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the camp facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning and sanitizing common areas, washrooms, and sleeping quarters to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all occupants.
• Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
• Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste properly.
• Replenishing supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and cleaning products as needed.

2. Camp Caretaker: As a Camp Caretaker, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the camp infrastructure. Your duties will include:

• Conducting routine inspections of camp facilities to identify any maintenance or repair needs.
• Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaky faucets, repairing broken fixtures, and replacing light bulbs.
• Maintaining the camp’s exterior areas, including landscaping, snow removal, and general groundskeeping.
• Assisting with the setup and teardown of temporary structures and equipment as required.

3. Kitchen Helper: As a Kitchen Helper, you will work closely with the camp chef to assist in food preparation and kitchen operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing ingredients for meals, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and portioning ingredients.
• Assisting with meal service, including plating food, serving meals to camp occupants, and cleaning up afterward.
• Washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using industrial dishwashing equipment.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area, including wiping down surfaces, sweeping, and mopping floors.

Schedule:

• 14 days on, 14 days off
• 10-hour shifts

Requirements:

• Ability to work in a remote camp environment for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
• Previous experience in a similar role is an asset but not required.
• Valid driver’s license is required for the camp caretaker and strongly preferred for the other positions.
