Job Description

Summary of the position:
Person who participates to the identification of needs in a neighbourhood or sector and informs and refers the clientele to the appropriate resources. She/he contributes to the implementation of community organizing programs.

The Youth Outreach Worker will be working under the NNADAP Program.

Specific Functions:
Creating a social media support page as well communicating with children ages 9-12 and youth ages 13-17. Applicant must possess experience in Sports and Recreation, leadership skills and be able to provide peer counseling, basic suicide intervention work, possess motivational skills and provide awareness for alcohol, drugs and solvent abuse to the children and youth. Candidate is also required to animate evening and night activities for the target groups in order to provide alternatives to alcohol, drugs and solvent abuse.

Must keep interactions confidential and required to sign a confidentiality form Requires flexible hours

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Cree and English
  • 18 years and over
  • Secondary 3 education
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience working with youth

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Good role model
  • Ability to write reports
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Ability to respect schedule
    Must be reliable

  • Chisasibi
  • Wemindji
  • Eastmain
  • Waskaganish
  • Nemaska
  • Mistissini
  • Ouje-Bougoumou
  • Waswanipi

Needed from June to October for the duration of 20 weeks Training will be provided to selected candidates

Deadline to apply: June 12, 2020

Salary varies according to education and experience: 20.98$ up to 24.22$
