Position: WATER TREATMENT TECHNICIAN

Schedule: 14 days of work followed by 14 days off

Reporting to the Environment Coordinator the Water Treatment Technician is responsible for sampling, analyzing and classifying raw water, sewage or treated water, overseeing operations for domestic waste water treatment, industrial water treatment, and a drinking-water production installation. The technician must examine, maintain, inspect and optimize operation of the equipment and facilities. As the person responsible for smooth operation of the three installations, they are occasionally responsible for supervising operating and maintenance staff. The technician is also responsible for inspecting and examining the distribution and collection systems to ensure that this equipment is operating correctly. They are responsible for creating and drafting operating and maintenance procedures for the water processing plants and for the distribution and collection systems. They must also participate in the development of programs to optimize treatment installations, ensure that all legal obligations are applied and perform activities planned within the scope of the environmental follow-up and monitoring program at the Renard Mine site.
Roles and main responsibilities
- Examine, maintain and adapt systems to measure and control domestic waste water, industrial water and drinking water treatment procedures;
- Sample and analyze water samples from treatment facilities;
- Perform troubleshooting in case of breakage, stoppage or malfunction of the procedure or equipment used in water treatment;
- Draft various operating reports;
- Plan and organize optimization and maintenance work;
- Plan and conduct sampling activities scheduled as part of various environmental follow-up programs;
- Adhere to organizational policies relating to health and safety at the workplace and ensure that procedures specified in the prevention program are applied;
- Collect data required for analysis and for projects to optimize installations and statutory logs;
- Record, update and ensure the integrity of follow-up and control data;
- Participate in preparing various environmental reports;
- Maintain the inventory of materials required for operations and order materials when required;
- Conduct maintenance and calibration of measuring and sampling equipment;
- Participate in the creation, development and revision of procedures, measuring methods, sampling methods and other documentation relating to operations management.
