SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who drives an automobile and has the legally required license to do so.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
- Transports passengers according to the instruction receive to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner;
- Supervise the transport of handicapped passengers into adaptive vehicle;
- Complete the mechanical inspection sheet, report any inconsistencies or repair;
- Ensure safety by applying security and driving rules;
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure comfort of the passengers;
- Transports objects, merchandise and mail according to the instructions received;
- Carries out the safety checks such as for breaks, tires, lights, cooling liquid and horn, and reports any malfunction according to the established procedure. Performs a circle check before each trip.
- Carries out certain emergency repairs en route, as qualified.
- Completes the utilization record and sees to the preventive maintenance of the vehicle.
- Reports any abnormality in the passengers’ behaviour.
- Performs other related tasks upon the request of her/his supervisor;
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- No specific experience.
Please note that applicants who do not have the above mentioned requirements may be considered for this position if they possess the following requirements.
A reading and writing test must also be successfully completed to be considered.
Alternative Profile:
- No specific diploma and;
- One (1) to two (2) years of related experience.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Excellent knowledge of passenger transportation, safety and defensive driving;
- Mechanical skills;
- Knowledge of appropriate community or city routes and locations;
- Excellent knowledge of Cree culture and language;
- Excellent interpersonal and listening communication, and teamwork skills;
- Warehouse experience, heavy lifting;
- Autonomous, flexible and discrete;
- Observation skills;
- Customer‑service skills;
- Empathy, courtesy, patience and resourcefulness.
LANGUAGE
- Fluent in Cree and English;
- Fluency in French is an asset
OTHER
- Occasional after hours’ availability;
- Valid driver’s permit class 4B meeting the standards of the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec and the Ministère des Transports du Québec.
