Construction Equipment Mechanics (5831)

LOCATION OF WORK: WASWANIPI – Sabtuan Regional Vocational Training Centre

NATURE OF WORK

Sabtuan Adult Education Services is seeking an experienced construction equipment mechanic to teach our program at the Sabtuan Regional Vocational Training Centre. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and has a proven ability to transmit information in a clear, professional, and understandable manner. The instructor will prepare course modules, deliver material, and evaluate students through the completion of the program. They will communicate details about attendance and student progress to Sabtuan Adult Education Services administrators and maintain the safety of their teaching environment.

Equipment mechanics who have previously worked as a teacher/trainer, or who have a strong interest in helping others learn the skills to become a mechanic, are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Program:

Construction Equipment Mechanics is an accredited vocational training program that prepares students to perform routine periodic maintenance and mechanical work. Students will learn how to inspect and target mechanical issues,
as well as conducting repairs, replacements, adjustments, inspections, and tests.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a secondary school vocational diploma (SSVD) in a relevant trade or the equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in the trade is required.
  • CCQ cards (or Red Seal) in a relevant trade is required.
  • Teaching experience in vocational training in a school board is required.
  • Relevant mining experience is a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of Eeyou Istchee is a definite asset.
  • Proficiency in English writing, speaking and reading is required.
  • Spoken Cree is a definite asset.
  • Functional French is an asset

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

As per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board, in addition to the basic salary calculated from the qualification and experience, we offer also Northern and Retention Allowances, subsidized housing, annual outings and other advantages.

Salary as per the contract: $42,341.00 to $82,585.00

Northern Allowance: $8,484.00 to $13,573.00

Retention Premium: $3,500 to $5,000

 

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Contractual position or hourly-paid, according to collective agreement conditions et according to the start date.
