SUPERINTENDENT – PROCESS IMPROVEMENT OPERATIONS & METALLURGY (Ref.: 28604)

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Superintendent is part of the Surface Operations team. Reporting to the Process and Maintenance Director, this person supervises the metallurgical, operational and maintenance activities at the ore processing
facilities and surface infrastructures. The Superintendent adheres to the company’s principles by adopting management oriented to sustainable development. The Superintendent promotes Newmont’s values by using
the standards dictated by the company and applies the key principles of operational excellence and the rules of the organization’s code of conduct.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintain the safe production of the surface department
  • Establish and monitor the achievement of departmental objectives
  • Develop, maintain, modify and improve the metallurgical strategies of the ore and water treatment plant
  • Participate in the management of the metallurgical accounting systems to allow a reliable and continuous follow-up on the performance of the treatment plant
  • Provide support and expertise for the smooth operation of the metallurgical and analytical laboratory
  • Ensure the supervision and evaluation of subordinates and plan their professional development
  • Work with colleagues in process, metallurgy, surface services and maintenance to ensure cohesion in the activities of each area to achieve common goals
  • Participate in the preparation of the production plan and develop operating strategies related to production and maintenance
  • Follow up on the asset management plan and participate in the optimization of the sector’s equipment and align the management strategies with the company’s vision
  • Participate in the preparation of the department’s budget and monitor costs
  • Follow up and prioritize projects and modifications of the department to improve safety, productivity and costs
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Ensure the follow-up and management of the process control bypass
  • Participate in the development of departmental contracts
  • Update and follow up on the asset management plan and participate in the optimization of the sector’s hardware and mobile equipment and align the management strategies with the company’s vision
  • Participate in the department’s event investigations and develop action plans related to these events
  • Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly in matters of health and safety
  • Replaces other superintendents during absences
  • All tasks related to the performance of his duties

YOUR TRAINING, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :

Training & Experience

  • University degree or college diploma in a field related to mineral processing
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the heavy industry
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in management/supervision
  • Experience in asset management and maintenance of mobile and fixed equipment
  • Good computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, PI datalink
  • Bilingualism in French and English essential
