STATUS: 1- Permanent Full Time
HOURLY SALARY: Min. (1) $25.25 – Max. (18) $45.22


Person who designs, implements, updates, analyses, assesses activities, and provides guidance and counselling services in one or more social programs.



The incumbent of the position assist psychiatric assessments and follow-ups of children and adolescent of Eeyou Istchee/Region 18, seen by the Child Psychiatrist on territory and at the Montreal Children Hospital (MCH) by:

  • Does the liaison with local resources: develop relationships in each community;
  • Organizes, coordinates and assists multidisciplinary meetings with the local team and psychiatrist to discuss about clients seen and the follow up of challenging cases;
  • Acts as a “pivot” for families and local resources in Eeyou Istchee;
  • Helps to gather psychosocial and collateral information;
  • May involve support of local psychosocial resources (e.g. school, Youth Protection, community workers, Group home, etc.);
  • Assists in the development of culturally appropriate Treatment Plan;
  • Identifies and update the list of key regional and out of territory resources for MH;
  • Acts as an adviser for the Inpatient team;
  • May be asked to assist in case of emergency placement;
  • Organizes weekly meeting with the Wiichihiituwin (Cree Patient services) team, consisting of the Child Psychiatrist and a Medical Secretary, to coordinate and ensure adequate assessment and follow-up of 3 main groups of clients 1) On the territory, 2) Outpatient (OPD) in Montreal and 3) Inpatient (rare);





  • Must have the required university degree in social work;
  • If using the reserved title, must provide her/his employer with annual proof that she/he is a member of the Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux du Québec;
  • The applicant on the acquired rights list in accordance with PL-21 will be considered;



  • Two (2) years of pertinent experience.


Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience with autism and behavioural techniques;
  • Knowledge of appropriate ways to handle intervention with challenging behavior;
  • Good understanding of psychosocial issues;
  • Understanding of First Nations culture and issues that affect individuals, families and communities is an asset;
  • Ability to apply Eeyou/Eenou culture, values, traditions and teachings into programs and services where possible;
  • Ability in the identification and analysis of the clientele needs;
  • Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge, as applied to coaching and training;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Autonomous, discrete and empathetic;
  • Teamwork capabilities;



  • Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset;



  • Travelling in the different Cree communities according to the needs of the mental health teams and the clients.
