Senior Engineer and Ground Control Supervisor

The senior mining engineer responsible for ground control is part of the technical services team. He / she is responsible for supervising designs and monitoring work related to ground control, paste fill, the micro-seismic system, cementing of infiltrations, and the stability of mine excavations.  He / she is also responsible for executing the ground control program and participates in decision-making on executing mining plans.

 

DESCRIPTION

  • Execute the ground control program and participate in updating it
  • Supervise the work of technicians and ground control engineers on the site
  • Design specifications and participate in the design and monitoring of field support procedures
  • Be responsible for all geotechnical assessments in the design of a construction site or gallery
  • Provide reports and analyses on field support, site stability, paste fill networks, seismic networks and instruments
  • Monitor work on the paste fill system
  • Design and monitor the cementing campaigns of excavations when necessary
  • Ensure the understanding and consideration of hydrogeological and structural models and constraints in ground control designs
  • Maintain close collaboration with operations, including information sessions related to ground controls
  • Respect, know and promote company rules and policies, particularly with regard to health, safety and the environment and relations with neighbouring communities
  • Perform all other tasks related to the performance of his/her duties
  • Schedule : 8 days of work followed by 6 days off or 4 days of work followed by 3 days off

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or geology
  • Master’s degree in rock mechanics an asset
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant experience, including experience in supervision
  • Mining modules 1 to 5 and 7.
  • Valid general explosives permit.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • Good computer skills, including instrumentation and measurement technologies, Deswik, Map3D, MXRAP and RocScience software
  • Bilingualism (mandatory)
