SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Person who assess the social functioning, difficulties of adaptation, coping skills and adaptive capacities of the client. He/she determines an intervention and treatment plan and ensure its
implementation, to foster client optimal development and rehabilitation in interaction with the environment.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

The incumbent contributes to the development and delivery of individual and group therapeutic services within the Mistissini pilot project for Community-based addiction/wellness recovery program. He/she will conduct clinical assessments and provide psychotherapeutic counselling based on a person centered and person driven approach. Specifically:

  • Assess the needs for psychotherapeutic follow-up for people using the Community-based addiction/wellness pilot project in Mistissini.
  • Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions, as well as therapeutic group sessions, in accordance with evidence based clinical practices.
  • Contributes with team members in defining personalized care plan and ensure the therapeutic follow up for the care plan portion that entails such follow up.
  • Support, inform, guide and accompany individuals and families in their journey for wellness.
  • Build an understanding of the factors influencing a person recovery in reference to Cree historical events and trauma informed care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Perform record keeping in accordance with the requirements of the File management system of the CBHSSJB.
  • Participate in the pilot project evaluation activities.
  • Carried out any other function related to the Community-base addiction/ wellness recovery program and at the request of the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • University diploma in Psychoeducation, Social work, Occupational therapy, Criminology or other academic program relevant to the function of psychotherapist;
  • Have a psychotherapist licence as provided by Ordre des Psychologues du Quebec (or equivalent when from another province).

Experience:

  • 3 years of work experiences in the function of psychotherapist.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Experiences and/ or good knowledge of Addiction/ wellness and recovery pathways.
  • Experiences and/ or good knowledge about First Nations populations of today and their history.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must have good initiative skills, be dynamic and exhibit responsibility and professionalism.
  • Must understand Cultural safety in services delivery and capacity to apply its principles.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, for seamless and holistic care.

Language:

  •  Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
