Project Manager—CEGEPs and First Nation Communities


Schedule: 37.5 hours per week


The position is based in Montréal, but requires travels, approximately 4 to 6 times a year, to First Nation communities and Montréal CEGEPs.

The minimum salary scale for this position is $20.51/hour ($40,000/year).

Under the authority of the Assistant Director of Educational Programming—First Nation Communities of Youth Fusion, the Project Manager—CEGEPs and First Nation Communities will be in charge of coordinating the delivery of daily programming for Indigenous youth, in various fields (performing arts, media and film creation, science and robotics, leadership and healthy living). For college programs, the project manager will be responsible for leading the virtualization of the regular programming. They will have to ensure that the projects respect the standards of Youth Fusion and the school partners. They will collaborate in the recruitment, training and event management of projects in Indigenous communities, and will be in charge of supervision, logistics and administration specific to the projects under their responsibility.

Main responsibilities

  • Create and maintain relationships with the schools, the Indigenous communities and the youth with whom the organization works;
  • Develop and maintain a network of local mentors in the communities under their supervision;
  • Contribute to the training and the recruitment of project coordinators;
  • Prepare and organize travel and accommodation for project coordinators in Indigenous communities;
  • Evaluate the material needs in the homes of the project coordinators under their supervision, and the material for academic projects. Make the necessary purchases (pots and pans, utensils, etc.) and send the material;
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to project coordinators and facilitators under their supervision to ensure the well-being of employees and that program objectives are met;
  • Facilitate the implementation of the virtual programming offered at CEGEPs during the COVID-19 period;
  • Collaborate in the coordination and management of events, including post-event follow-ups;
  • Contribute to improving existing initiatives and developing new ones by evaluating existing activities;
  • Process and approve time sheets and expense reports related to the projects of their employees;
  • Distribute annual evaluation in the communities under their supervision and contribute to the writing and distribution of the final reports.



  • University degree in a relevant discipline for this position



  • At least two years experience in project management
  • Experience in human resources management
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and individuals
  • Knowledge of the cultures and traditions of one or more Indigenous nations



  • Committed leader with experience in human resources management;
  • Ability to solve problems, to take initiative and to work autonomously;
  • Excellent organizational skills and professionalism;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to create positive and strong relationships with internal and external partners;
  • Event planning and project management, a requirement.


Technical knowledge

  • PC environment
  • Office 365 suite


• French and English, spoken and written
• Written and/or oral knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset


• Be available to travel to First Nation communities several times a year
• Driver’s licence (essential)
