Mining Engineer, Rock Mechanics

The Mining Engineer, Rock Mechanics is part of the Mine Engineering team. He/she monitors the work related to rock mechanics, fill, the microseismic system, paste fill reticulation and stability of mine excavations. He/she also performs monitoring, drawing and data compilation and participates in decision-making.
DESCRIPTION
- Ensure monitoring of various excavations, including underground inspections
- Supervise the work of the Ground Monitoring Technicians
- Plan and coordinate geotechnical activities for site operations
- Monitor the work related to the paste fill system and the cementation
- Monitor the work related to the microseismic system, including establishing seismic protocol
- Supervise the installation and monitor various measuring instruments
- Conduct quality tests regarding the different types of ground support installed
- Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to health, safety and the environment and relations with neighbouring communities
- All other tasks related to the performance of his/her duties
- Schedule : 14 days of work followed by 14 days off
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Geological Engineering
- Master’s degree in Rock Mechanics an asset
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ relevant experience in an underground mine
- Practical experience in ground control
- Mining Module 1 to 5 and 7
- Valide Explosives Permit
- Member of the Quebec Order of Engineers or eligible
- Good computer knowledge, including the Deswik, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Bilingualism an asset
