Job title: Mine maintenance welder

JOB SUMMARY
The welder is part of the mechanical and electrical maintenance team of the mine. The incumbent is responsible for making, repairing and/or modifying various parts for the mobile, stationary and electrical equipment used during mining operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and interpret welding plans and instructions
- Master welding techniques (flame welding, arc welding or semi-automatic welding, shielded metal arc welding, oxyacetylene torch welding, plasma arc welding, flux-cored welding, etc.)
- Weld various metals such as steel, aluminum and cast iron
- Make, repair, modify and assemble parts for the mining equipment
- Know the standards in effect (Canadian Welding Bureau–CWB)
- Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to health and safety
- Complete any tasks related to the performance of his duties
QUALIFICATIONS
- Vocational diploma in welding
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in the mining sector
- Knowledge of high-pressure welding, an asset
- Mining training modules 1 to 5 and 7
- Valid explosives permit
- Bilingualism, an asset
