GENERAL FOREPERSON – MINE

PURPOSE:
The General Foreperson, Mining Production is part of the supervisory team of the Mine sector. He/she is responsible for the performance of mining activities and supervises a team of employees dedicated to mining operations and support services, in compliance with rules, methods, policies, plans and specifications, and productivity. He/she shows leadership and emphasizes achievement of the established objectives, in collaboration with the Mining Operations Group, while complying with the health and safety, budget and production schedule objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinate mining activities with the goal of achieving the objectives set.
- Participate in the production planning process and supervise the operations in accordance with the daily, weekly and monthly programs.
- Plan the personnel requirements for his/her sector of activity.
- Supervise and manage personnel, evaluate performance and see to the development of the employees.
- Implement best practices in order to maximize productivity and the quality of work.
- Ensure that the environmental directives are properly followed.
- Understand and share the corporate vision in order to align his/her operational strategies accordingly.
- Create a partnership with the other departments in his/her sector to establish team spirit and collaboration.
- Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to health and safety
- Perform all other tasks related to the performance of the duties of the position
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Diploma of Secondary Studies (DSS/DEP), Diploma of College Studies (DCS/DEC) or university degree in a related field
- 7 to 10 years’ relevant experience in mining operations, including at least 5 years’ experience in an underground mine.
- Mining modules 1 to 5 and 7.
- Valid general explosives permit
- Good computer skills, including MS Office Suite and SAP (an asset)
- Bilingual French & English (an asset)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Eleonore mine site (fly-in, fly-out)
- Schedule: 8 days of work, daytime only, followed by 6 days off
