JOB TITLE: 1 FULL-TIME SECURITY GUARD

DATE OF POSTING: AUGUST 19, 2022

JOB SUMMARY

Under the immediate supervision and direction of the General Manager, the Security Guard (SG) is responsible to ensure, maintain and protect the overall night safety and security of the premises, public and guests. The SG is responsible to maintain order and enforce regulations within and around the Hotel. The SG must patrol regularly, maintain a high visibility presence and prevent any illegal and/or inappropriate actions.

 

OVERVIEW OF MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Protects property by maintaining a safe and secure environment;
  • Ensure the safety and security of all guests that are present in the building;
  • Control access to the Hotel and ensure all main entrances and emergency exits are free from obstruction;
  • Greets late night arrival guests at the hotel;
  • Complete the front desk log for the next shift employee;
  • Checks in/out guest in an efficient and respectful manner and in accordance with credit and identity policies;
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, determine purpose of callers, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department;
  • Answer queries regarding the hotel’s services and community services such restaurants, sports facilities, transportation and travel directions;
  •  Utilize Hotello software to check guests in and out, run daily reports, book rooms and manage payments;
  • Ensure all payments are received upon check in and charge credit cards and place credit authorization requests using point of sale terminals;
  • Receive feedback from guests regarding the quality of the hotel services during their stay;
  • Print the day-end close and ensure update is completed in Hotello. Submit report to Administrative Clerk;
  • Prevent all illegal and inappropriate actions and report immediately to proper authorities and submit report to the immediate supervisor;
  • Inspect and patrol regularly all assigned areas (indoor and outdoor) to guard against theft, vandalism and fire including regular tours around the building;
  • Monitor the alarm system, video cameras and operates detecting/emergency equipment;
  • Alert and direct the guests to the nearest exit in case of emergencies;
  • May be required to assist with duties involving moving, lifting, shoveling and cleaning;
  • Follow schedule/routine as stipulated by the immediate supervisor;
  • Follows the safety and security procedures/protocols;
  • Keep simple records of work performed and reports all suspicious incidents that occur in writing to the immediate supervisor;
  • Maintain, clean and organize the Front Desk and lobby on a daily basis;
  • Assist with cleaning (garbage, entrances, wash floors in the lobby, etc.) when needed;
  • Remove snow and de-ice entrance of the hotel when needed;
  • May prepare and set up the breakfast if needed;
  • May be requested to store the equipment and furniture from the conference room;
  • May receive complaints from guests and must report to the immediate supervisor;
  • May be requested to orient and train new replacement;
  • Participate to mandatory related training or as requested by immediate supervisor;
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times;
  • Perform any other related tasks or assigned tasks by immediate supervisor.

 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • High school or equivalent is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Execl, Outlook etc.
  • Proficiency with various electronic and credit card payment systems
  • Knowledge of Hotello Software is an asset, willing to take training
  • Security attestation, certificate and/or diploma is an asset
  • Work experience as a Security is an asset
  • Fluency in Cree and English, French is an asset
  • Provide a clean criminal background check upon hiring

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Permanent status position
  • 35 hrs per week
  • 3-month probation period
  • Benefits according to Waastooskuun HR policies and procedures
  • Required to do some light to heavy lifting
  • Required to work nights, week-ends and holidays
  • Work 7/7 days schedule with every other week off
  • Wear uniforms at all times

 

SALARY

Grade 5: starting rate $16.29/hr to a maximum of $24.07/hr based on qualifications and experience
