Job Description
TITLE: EXPLORATION PROJECT GEOLOGIST
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Project Geologist will direct and control mining exploration projects including sampling, prospecting, mapping and drilling using industry best practices. He/she will adhere to the company’s principles by adopting a management approach focused on health and safety, the environment and sustainable development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervision of sampling, prospecting or drilling campaigns
- Planning of drilling and greenfield exploration campaigns
- Compile historical data
- Writing of technical and geoscientific reports
- Analyze and interpret geochemical data
- Mentor other employees
- Ensure work is completed on budget and on schedule
- Generate new projects and propose work
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve objectives
- Promote a corporate culture focused on health and safety, the environment and sustainable development
- Perform all other tasks required by his/her supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology or geological engineering
- Be a member of the Ordre des géologues du Québec or the Ordre des ingénieurs
- Good knowledge of GIS software such as MapInfo, ArcGis and Leapfrog an asset
- Ability to work in isolated areas when required
- Be available according to operational needs
- Valid driver’s license
- Bilingualism an asset
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Demonstrate leadership with employees, consultants and service providers
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate a strong interest in the development of critical and strategic minerals
- Good geoscientific knowledge of pegmatitic deposits
- Autonomous and resourceful
