NATURE OF WORK
The Coordinator of Student Engagement reports to and assists the Director of School Operations in creating, advocating, facilitating, and monitoring plans and strategies that improve student engagement. As a member of the school operations team, the incumbent works closely with individual schools to enhance their student engagement and to provide support with accessing available funding. This position also collaborates closely with other partners such as Cree Justice, Youth Fusion, and Sports and Recreation Departments to promote student engagement
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
- Assists the Director of School Operations in the area of development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all initiatives related to student engagement such as: student retention, perseverance, parental engagement, student health and well-being, and overall engagement;
- Collaborates with Sabtuan Adult Education Services (SAES) and the Office of Communications and Community Relations (OCCR) in the development and implementation of plans and tools related to student engagement, such as the overall student engagement strategy;
- Reviews transcripts and students’ records on a quarterly basis in collaboration with the coordinator of student data management and school principals, vice-principals, guidance counsellors and counsellors in academic training to align programs and course offerings in order to meet the needs of students;
- Works with schools in the areas of data driven decision making (DDDM) to improve student engagement and identify research-based practices in education in alignment with the Local School Improvement Plan (LSIP);
- Develops and implements strategies, tools, and training that support schools in the areas of student retention and engagement;
- Visits and supports school leadership on a quarterly basis, in the schools identified in collaboration with the Director of school Operations.
- Supports and assists with the implementation of other initiatives and programs in schools.
- Collaborates and facilitates in meetings, trainings, and shared tool development for student engagement with school principals, vice-principals, guidance counsellors and academic counsellors
- Recommends additional programs, measures, and initiatives that will allow for enriched and diverse programming for students throughout the Board.
- Carries out other tasks or functions identified by the Director of school operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree or training requiring at least sixteen (16) years of schooling in a relevant field of specialization.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of the Cree language and/or French is an asset.
- Administrative or teaching experience in First Nations Education is a determining asset.
- Knowledge of student’s management database such as GPI or Charlemagne is a determining asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT*
- Temporary, Full-Time Position until June 2021.
- *With possibility of extension to be reviewed in 2020-2021.
- Starting Date: As soon as possible
- Annual Salary: Minimum: $ 84,166.00
- Maximum: $ 112,219.00
- Northern Allowance: $8,484 to $13,573
- *Benefits and working conditions according to the ByLaw regarding the Conditions of Employment of Management and according internal procedures.
