NATURE OF WORK
The Coordinator of School Improvement reports to and assists the Director of School Operations in advocating, facilitating, and monitoring plans and strategies that improve student achievement. As a member of the School Operations team, she is a pedagogical leader who works in collaboration with other coordinators, Principals, Vice-Principals, and partners in education, implementing actions that work toward continuous school improvement.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
- Assists the Director of School Operations, in the area of coordination, facilitation, implementation, and monitoring of all school level improvement programming, including: Local School Improvement Plans (LSIPs), School Improvement Teams/ Leadership Teams, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), etc.
- Works with the School Operations team and the school administrators in identifying, coordinating, and implementing staff professional development plans to build school leadership capacity.
- Works with schools in the areas of data driven decision-making (DDDM) to improve student success and identifying research-based practices in education in alignment with the school’s LSIP.
- Develops and implements strategies, tools, and training that support schools in the areas of instructional supervision and coaching.
- Visits and supports school leadership on a quarterly basis, in those schools identified in collaboration with the Director of School Operations.
- Supports and assists with the implementation of other board initiatives and programs in schools.
- Collaborates and facilitates in meetings, training, and development opportunities for Principals and Vice-Principals.
- Carries out any other task or function identified by the Director of School Operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree or training requiring at least sixteen (16) years of schooling in a relevant field of specialization.
- A permanent teaching permit issued by the Ministry of Education (teaching diploma).
- Five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of the Cree language and/or French is an asset.
- Administrative or teaching experience in First Nations Education is a determining asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS*
Permanent, Full-Time Position: 35 hours/week.
Salary: $84,166.00 – $112,219.00
Northern Allowance: $8,484.00 – $13,573.00
*Benefits and working conditions according to the ByLaw regarding the Conditions of Employment of Management and according internal procedures.
