NATURE OF WORK

  • The Coordinator of Community Engagement implements and manages outreach programs and events. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the CSB stakeholders to increase awareness of and support for Eeyou education.
  • The Coordinator of Community Engagement reports to and assists the Director of Communications & Community Relations (CCR) in elevating the importance of education and community engagement.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the Director of Communications & Community Relations in the development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all initiatives related to community engagement and promoting the Cree School Board as a leader in education.
  • Work will include project managing the CSB external newsletter, a radio series hosted by the Cree Communications Consultant, coordinating community tours, help coordinate and promote CSB key public events. Monitors project progress (timeline, performance indicators and budget) and documents progress, as well as ensures follow-up mechanisms with key stakeholders to reach set goals.
  • Fostering community engagement will also include developing and maintaining a community-based communication network/ a communications link with each community.
  • Works with the Communication Consultants to develop an engagement communication plan, tools and key messages to be roll-out accordingly.
  • Visits and supports communities on a determined basis, as identified in collaboration with the Director of Communications & Community Relations.
  • Collaborates and facilitates meetings, trainings, and development of shared tools for community engagement with school management, teachers, and staff.
  • Recommends additional initiatives, programs, measures, opportunities for collaboration and ongoing partnership from the CSB in community initiatives and vice versa.
  • Carries out other tasks or functions identified by the Director of Communications & Community Relations;

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree or training requiring at least sixteen (16) years of schooling in a relevant field of specialization.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of the Cree language and/or French is an extremely high asset.
  • Administrative or teaching experience in First Nations Education is a determining asset.
  • NOTE: Exceptionally and after evaluation of a candidate’s qualifications, years of pertinent experience may be recognized by the school board as equivalent in the case of a level of schooling lower than the minimum required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT*

  • Regular, Full-time position 35 hrs/week
  • Salary: 84,166.00 to 112,219.00$
  • Northern Allowance: $8,484 to $13,573
  • *Given the current salary regulations and guidelines at the Cree School Board, candidates from another Quebec School Board will be able to obtain a salary as per the scale above-mentioned. However, candidates that are not from the education sector are not eligible to a salary above the midpoint of the position’s salary scale.
