Homeports: Chibougamau-Chapais, Val d’Or, Quebec and St-Hubert airports

Stornoway is recruiting a Construction Miner for the Renard underground mine. The construction miner performs various underground construction work in the advancement of development or other related construction development operations. He/she is responsible for the following activities:


  • Perform various construction work such as: framing, construction, welding and cutting, concreting work, application of wet (mechanized) shotcrete, anchor cable and other underground structures;
  • Check and properly maintain the equipment;
  • Ensure the activity-related tasks are performed efficiently and safely;
  • Work closely with all teammates;
  • Secure their work area;
  • Actively participate in the planning, health and safety and training meetings;
  • Adequately complete daily reports and other documents;
  • Observe the work-related laws, rules and procedures;
  • Perform all other related tasks.




  • DVS in Ore Extraction or relevant experience that can be considered equivalent;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in underground construction;
  • Modular training of the mining worker completed (FMTM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7);
  • Hold a valid general explosives permit;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license;
  • Experience in the application of wet shotcrete;
  • Good capacity in oxycutting and welding;
  • Autonomy and resourcefulness;
  • Ability to communicate in French or English;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Exemplary health and safety attitude at all times;
  • Interest and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
