Job Description
Position: Coach trainer in supervision

Type of contrat: Permanent. We are open to offer a temporary mandate depending on the availability of the candidate.

Department: Mine

Sub-department: Underground

Schedule: 7 days of work followed by 7 days off (open to do 14/14 occasionnaly)

Location: Renard mine

Homeports:  Chibougamau-Chapais, Val d’Or, Quebec and St-Hubert airports

 

Stornoway is recruiting for a coach trainer in supervision. Reporting to the Mine Captain, the coach trainer will be responsible for coaching, training and mentoring new and relief supervisors in their roles and responsibilities.

 

Your challenge: 

  • Be a mentor and coach for the production, development and surface supervisors in all areas of management (operations, labor relations, health and safety, etc.);
  • Assist supervisors with shift planning to ensure weekly and monthly schedules are met;
  • Coaches supervisors in the planning and execution of various prevention activities;
  • Develop and maintain a learning relationship with supervisors;
  • Follow up on performance to ensure learning progress;
  • Follows Stornoway procedures and communicates them to supervisors for use in their role;
  • Apply and communicate the principles of the supervisory formula and work map;
  • Be a role model and coach in health and safety;
  • Do some replacement work for the mine captains on occasion.

Require skills

  • Minimum of 10 years in the mining industry, including 5 years of supervision in an underground mine;
  • A degree in the mining industry will be considered as an asset;
  • Have completed the modular training of the mining worker (FMTM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7);
  • Hold a valid general explosives permit;
  • Hold a valid driver’s license;
  • You are a person focused on continuous improvement;
  • You possess strong leadership skills and have an exemplary attitude towards health and safety;
  • You are bilingual (French and English) both orally and in writing;
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, SAP);
  • You have very good communication skills in order to transmit your knowledge;
  • Interest and ability to work in isolated areas in a multicultural work environment;
  • Excellent ability in planning, organization and execution of tasks;
  • Knowledge of SIMS is an asset;
