SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Person who helps assess and analyses the needs of users, establish norms and standards of professional practice and devise appropriate solutions in order to help the CBHSSJB improve the quality of its professional activities.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

In respect with Cree healing practices and paradigms the incumbent:

  • Participates to the development, implementation, evaluation and review of intervention plans & life plans; and of the standards of the professional practice;
  • Gives support to the Youth protection staff to understand child’s development, family dynamics, maltreatment issues, healing process, intervention in a context of authority;
  • Participates to the identification of the needs and to the presentation of the children and youth’s clinical profile;
  • Supports the Youth Protection workers in preparing and participating in family meetings, family group conferences, etc.;
  • Provides individualized and group support to Youth Protection workers, especially in difficult or complex situations (debriefing);
  • Assists and supervises Youth Protection workers in the use of mandatory clinical tools recommended by the CBHSSJB;
  • Provides the necessary clinical support for the implementation of referral frameworks, protocols and practice guides arising from the CBHSSJB’s guidelines;
  • Promotes mandatory and institutionally recommended clinical tools, in respect with Cree healing practices and paradigms;
  • Works closely with the team leaders, the other clinical support staff and the coordinators of the Youth Protection service;
  • Assists in the presentations, orientation and training of the YP staff;
  • Assumes all other tasks at the request of his immediate supervisor as part of his field of expertise.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • University degree in social work, psycho education, criminology or other degree deemed relevant;

 

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in Youth Protection;

Or two (2) years of experience in working with youth and their families in difficulty in a well-defined clinical intervention;

  • Experience in supervision.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Act on the Youth Protection Act (YPA) and some knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice for Adolescents (YCJA);
  • Knowledge of the child development and family dynamics, maltreatment issues, healing process, intervention in a context of authority;
  • Good knowledge of the clinical process in Youth Protection and the concept of protection and intervention protocols;
  • Knowledge of the concepts of group interventions, specifically family group intervention;
  • Talent to effectively convey the clinical and theoretical knowledge, in respect with Cree healing practices and paradigms;
  • Ability to be adaptable to different culture and environments;
  • Good judgment and a professional autonomy;
  • An excellent sense of the organization;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents and deliver presentations and trainings;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in working effectively in an independent capacity and as a member of the team.

 

LANGUAGE

  • Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset;

OTHER

  • Available for travel in the various communities.
