Description
Person who helps assess and analyses the needs of users, establish norms and standards of professional practice and devise appropriate solutions in order to help the institution improve the quality of its professional activities.

 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Person who, under the supervision of the Director of Youth Protection, reviews the situation of a child and decides to continue or close the case under the Youth Protection Act. The incumbent will validate the choice of the protection regime, the voluntary measures applicable and the recommendations to be formulated in the Youth Chamber. The revision can be interactive, be in the presence of the parents, the child and the partners. The incumbent will participate in case discussions, write the various reports and forms related to the functions. With clinical staff, will ensure the development and revision of intervention plans, review reports and file closure reports. The clinical activities specialist (reviewer) is a key person in the planning and organization of files for the youth court.

Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Protection the incumbent:

• Ensures the continuity of care and stability of the links and living conditions of this child, appropriate to his age, permanently;
• Periodically review a child’s overall situation with respect to the measures applied under the YPA and determine whether changes are necessary;
• Participates in the planning and organization of files for the youth court;
• Participate in the identification of training needs and in the community worker coaching;
• Conducts clinical consultations and case discussions;
• Drafts the various reports and forms related to her duties;
• Proposes other support measures for the child or his parents;
• Ensures that all measures are taken to ensure the return of the child to his parents;
• Seizes the court, in particular to obtain an placement order for the determines period;
• Applies for a guardian appointment or have the child’s guardian appointed by a recommended stakeholder;
• Resorts to the court, in particular to obtain an accommodation order for the period that the latter determines;
• Terminates an intervention;
• Assumes all other tasks at the request of the immediate supervisor;
• Requirements

 

Education:

• Must have University degree in social work, psycho education, criminology or other degree deemed relevant;
• Be a member in good standing of the Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ) is an asset;

Experience:

• Four (4) years of relevant experience in working with youth and their families in a well-defined clinical intervention;
• Experience in a first nation community or working in a framework based on the community;
• Have relevant experience in coaching and supervision;

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Excellent knowledge of the Act on the youth protection (AYP) and some knowledge of the criminal justice Act for adolescents (CJAA), including adoption measures;
• Good knowledge of the clinical process for youth protection and the concept of protection and intervention protocol;
• Knowledge of Cree culture and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee;
• Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
• Knowledge of psychosocial intervention approaches;
• Ability to communicate with people, to run interviews and to establish and maintain a “helping relationship with beneficiaries”;
• Ability to assume a leadership, coaching role;
• Ability to work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team;
• Sense of initiative, be dynamic, exhibit responsibility and professionalism;
• Excellent communication skills written and oral;
• Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, planning and decision making skills,
• Must be autonomous and flexible;

Language:

• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree and/or French is an asset;

 

Other:

• Available to travel in different communities to assess situations;
• Valid driving license;

Salary information
Salary (Hourly) Minimum: $25.25
Salary (Hourly) Maximum: $45.22
