Job Description

Under the site manager’s authority, the Chef assumes all the responsibilities regarding the culinary preparation and services, while ensuring the proper functioning of the kitchen. The Chef is responsible of respecting the menu, the quality of the meals and the quality of the service as well.


3. Responsibilities

Main responsibilities

Meal Preparation

  • Plan the work distribution in the kitchen
  • Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen spaces
  • Ensure the meal production and their quality
  • Proper manipulation of equipment and devices such as kitchen oven, mixer etc.
  • Daily inspections of work areas
  • Manage food production and avoid food waste



  • Ensure a proper meal presentation
  • Ensure the freshness of the meals
  • Ensure the respect of MAPAQ, WHMIS and CNESST’s standards in the kitchen
  • Ensure compliance with handling and portioning standards
  • Respect the estimated time and availability of food (ready-to-eat, distribution, self-service)
  • Ensure that the kitchen’s service hours are respected
  • Maintain good customer relationship


Employee Management

  • Ensure the integration of the new employees into their functions
  • Ensure respectful and professional relationship between employees
  • Establish a work environment focused on collaboration, mutual help and employee development
  • Report any problematic situation to his superior


Stock Management

  • Ensure the inventory process
  • Help with the reception of the products
  • Help with the preparation of the orders
  • Ensure stock rotation according to the company standards


4. Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • College diploma in management or professional study diploma in cooking, combined with relevant experience
  • Sense of organization
  • Computer skills
  • Appropriate computer skills are required (Microsoft Office)
  • Bilingualism (French/English)
  • Ability to work in a team and mobilize a team
  • Demonstrate judgment and leadership
  • Excellent communication


Workplace and schedule

  • Be able to work on a schedule of 14 working days followed by 14 days off, 80 hours per week.
  • Work in remote areas (James-Bay)


Physical requirement

  • Physical work (long hours, standing)
  • Able to lift heavy loads.
