PURPOSE: 

The Backfill Operator is part of the process sector operations team. He is in charge of backfill circuit operations and works in close cooperation with the mining department. The Operator ensures optimization of the backfill circuit according to established performance indicators. He/she identifies operational and mechanical equipment problems in his sector. 

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

• Ensure proper functioning of equipment by using a DCS control system and performing periodic mechanical inspections of:
  • Hydraulic pumps 
  • Conveyors 
  • Backfill mixer 
  • Aggregate, slag and cement silos 
  • All associated auxiliary equipment 
• Develop and maintain good communication with the mining sector in order to feed planned constructions with backfill that meets required specifications 
• Start and stop sector equipment according to established procedures 
• Conduct quality control tests on backfill to ensure compliance with operation instructions 
• Ensure integrity of samples and prepare them for laboratory analysis 
• Comply with, know and promote company rules and policies, particularly in occupational health and safety 
• Ensure that workplaces are clean and safe at all times 
• Report all incidents/accidents to the Supervisor 
• Participate in the continuous training program to replace workers in Grinding and Filtration Operator positions 
• Participate in projects and tests in cooperation with external stakeholders to improve operations 
• Maintain production information records and write reports 
• Assist Fixed Equipment Mechanics during maintenance work and production shutdowns 
• All other related tasks

 

 TRAINING & EXPERIENCE 

• Vocational studies diploma in ore processing or a combination of studies and relevant experience 
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Backfill Operator 
• Knowledge of DCS/PLC control systems 
• Must have a valid driver’s license 
• Bilingualism French & English is an asset

WORK CONDITIONS 

• Schedule: 14 days of work followed by 14 days of rest 
• Éléonore mine site (Fly-in, Fly-out)
