NATURE OF WORK

The Administrative Officer assists the Director of School Operations by providing administrative leadership in coordinating departmental operations so that School Operations can provide the best possible educational programs and the continuous improvement of the Board’s educational services.

 

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

Support the Director in the development and execution of departmental strategies, objectives, programs and policies. Identify opportunities for adjustment, as required.

Develop, monitor and implement administrative activities and projects related to the department, as per established priorities and budget.

Act as liaison between the Director and staff and parents. Represent the department and the Director, as required. Liaise with external consultants and services providers.

Provide advice and problem-solving in areas relating to staff, planning, and relationships within the department; Assists the Director in staff management.

Proactively coordinate and plan the Director’s schedule.

Assist the Director in planning the logistics and contents of meetings and events.

Prepare communications and presentations.

Contribute to the preparation of the departmental budget and financial management: monitor budget expenditures, provide budget status updates.

Implement and maintain up-to-date efficient and effective systems, databases/ files and administrative standards that respond to the needs of the department while supporting the overall organization and ensuring alignment with legal and governance requirements. Maintain the Director’s files and correspondence.

Supervise the tasks and results of the Executive Secretary.

Prepare contracts, monitor progress and process payments.

Organize and attend various Youth Education meetings as required and ensure proper preparation of meeting agendas and record of discussions and decisions.

Contributesto the consultative process for developing the objectives and strategies of the school board dealing with School Operations, collaborates with other staff members in determining the annual action plan for the department.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A College Diploma in an appropriate field.

Fluency in English and Cree.

French language is an asset.

At least 3 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge of the GRICS system is an asset.

High level of autonomy, flexibility and strong communication and inter-cultural skills.

Some travelling will be required.

 

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Regular Full-time position. 35hrs/week

Salary: $68,705 – $91,605

Northern Allowance: $8,484 to $13,573

*Compte tenu la réglementation et les lignes directrices actuelles en matière salariale à la Commission Scolaire Crie, les candidats provenant d’une autre Commission Scolaire du Québec pourront obtenir un salaire selon l’échelle indiquée ci-haut. Les candidats ne provenant pas du milieu de l’éducation ne sont pas éligibles à un salaire supérieur au point milieu de l’échelle salariale du poste.
